Lone Ranch Beach
Brookings, OR
Lone Ranch sits at the south end of the Samuel H. Boardman corridor, a mix of sand, tide pools, and offshore rocks with an easy, flat approach that makes it one of the more family friendly stops along this otherwise rugged stretch. It also marks the trailhead for the hike north to Cape Ferrelo and House Rock, for anyone wanting to extend the visit into a longer walk.
One of the easiest, most family friendly stops in the whole Boardman corridor, though it's smaller and less dramatic than the corridor's bigger overlooks farther north.
How we score beachesCheck the tide pools at the north end of the beach at low tide, then continue onto the Cape Ferrelo trail if you want more of a hike than just the beach itself offers.
Free lot at the Lone Ranch picnic area off Highway 101.
A flat, easy path connects the parking area to the beach.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
Low tide during summer, June through September, gives the best and safest tide pooling conditions.
