Long Point Beach
Provincetown, MA
Long Point Beach sits at the very tip of Cape Cod's hook, marked by Long Point Light. There is no road, so you get there by a shuttle boat or a long walk over the breakwater from Commercial Street. The beach is remote, with no facilities and a real sense of the end of the land.
A remote beach at the tip of the Cape with a lighthouse is unforgettable, though the walk and lack of facilities take planning.
How we score beachesCheck the tide before you walk the breakwater, since the boulders are slippery when the water is high. The shuttle boat is an easy way back.
There is no parking at the beach. Walkers start from the west end of Commercial Street, and a shuttle boat runs from Provincetown.
Access is by boat or a long walk over granite boulders and sand. It is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers.
Summer is best, when the shuttle runs and the weather is mild. Fall walks are quiet but colder and windier.
