Long Point Beach
West Tisbury, MA
Long Point Beach is part of the Trustees of Reservations' Long Point Wildlife Refuge on the south shore of West Tisbury, a large property with an Atlantic beach on one side and freshwater Long Cove Pond on the other. Grasslands and sandy trails lead to the sand. It is one of the more open, unspoiled stretches on the island.
Open Atlantic beach and pond in one place, but the reservation system and the walk make it a planned trip.
How we score beachesReserve a parking spot in advance in summer, since passes are released online and go quickly. Arriving by bike or on foot avoids the vehicle fee.
Summer visits require an advance reservation, and vehicle parking is $25 for non-members. Walkers and cyclists enter free (published 2025 rates).
A sandy trail leads from the lot to the ocean beach, so expect a walk over soft ground. There are no lifeguards.
Summer brings warm days and Atlantic surf, and fall is calm and clear. Bird nesting areas can be roped off in spring and early summer.
