Malibu Beach
Boston, MA
Malibu Beach is the smaller southern pocket next to Savin Hill in Dorchester, with a strip of sand along Morrissey Boulevard and views of the Boston skyline over the inner harbor. It has fewer amenities than its neighbor but draws a loyal crowd of neighborhood regulars who prefer its quieter feel.
Locals like it for the smaller crowds and the skyline view, but it has fewer facilities than Savin Hill and it can feel cramped on hot days.
How we score beachesWalk over from the Savin Hill bathhouse rather than driving between the two. Malibu is the better bet when the main beach is packed.
Shared with the Savin Hill lot and limited street parking on Morrissey Boulevard. Check posted signs.
Reached by a short walk from the Savin Hill facilities. The beach is regular soft sand with fewer paved paths than the main beach.
Dogs are not allowed at the beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day; leashed dogs are welcome off season.
Summer weekends are the busy stretch, with the water at its warmest in August. Off season the beach is quiet and windy.
