Leashed dogs are allowed only before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. during the May 15-October 1 season, but can be off-leash under control the rest of the year.
Jersey Shore summers bring water into the low to mid 70s by August, with the crowds thickest in July. Hurricane season runs into the fall, and this stretch of barrier island still remembers what Sandy did in October, so late season visitors keep an eye on the forecast.
