Marine Stadium

Marine Stadium is a sheltered channel built for the rowing events of the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, and it's still used for rowing, dragon boat racing, and water skiing today. It's calm, current-free water rather than a sandy beach, tucked between Alamitos Bay and Colorado Lagoon.
Genuinely interesting Olympic history and a real working rowing venue, more a scenic stop than a swim destination.

Free street parking is available around the stadium.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the grassy areas around Marine Stadium, but not on the sandy beach itself.
