Me-Kwa-Mooks Park
Seattle, WA
Me-Kwa-Mooks Park is a rocky, low-key beach across Beach Drive SW from the Emma Schmitz Memorial Overlook, best visited at low tide when the tide pools open up. Limpets, chitons, sea stars, and nudibranchs make this a genuine tide pooling spot rather than a swim beach, in a quiet 20-acre wooded park that stays noticeably less crowded than Alki nearby.
Real and rich in tide pools, but quiet enough that it reads as a walk more than a full beach day, with no facilities to speak of.
How we score beachesTime it for low tide specifically; at high tide there's little beach to walk on and the tide pools disappear entirely.
