Menemsha Hills Beach

Chilmark, MA

ScenicUncrowded

Menemsha Hills Beach is the rocky shoreline at the end of the Trustees of Reservations' Menemsha Hills trail in Chilmark. The path runs through woods and open bluffs before dropping to a cobbled beach on Vineyard Sound. Few people make the hike, so it stays quiet even in July.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Wear real shoes, since the trail and the beach are rocky. Save the hike for a clear day and bring water.

Parking

Parking is at the Trustees trailhead lot, which is small. Check the Trustees site for current fees and hours.

Accessibility

A hiking trail leads to the shore, so this is a walk over uneven ground. The beach itself is cobbled, and there are no amenities.

Weather & the best time to visit

Late spring and fall are ideal for the hike, and summer days can be hot on the exposed bluffs.
