Midway Beach

Grayland, WA

Uncrowded

Midway Beach is one of the maintained public access roads in the Grayland beach system, a quieter drive-on alternative to Grayland Beach State Park a short distance north. A separate walk-in trail behind the dunes leads through a wet, willow-lined stretch that's better for birders willing to wear rubber boots than for a typical beach day.

Locals Score🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥

A real, named local access point valued for being quieter than the state park up the road, though it's a modest, no-frills stretch without much to set it apart beyond the birding.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Watch for posted snowy plover nesting closures near the dunes in late spring and summer. The birding trail in particular gets fenced off in sections during nesting season.

Parking

Free parking at the marked beach access road; spaces are limited.

Accessibility

The vehicle access road leads straight to hard-packed sand. The separate birding trail is unpaved, wet, and uneven, not suited to strollers.

Weather & the best time to visit

Spring and early summer bring the plover nesting closures and the best birding. Fall and winter are quieter and fully open.
