Moloaa Bay Beach

Anahola, HI

Family-friendlySurfingUncrowded

Moloaa Bay curves into a quiet half moon of sand backed by a stream and a scatter of local homes, far enough off the highway that it rarely shows up on a first time visitor's list. The water inside the bay stays calmer than the open coast on either side, and a shallow reef near the mouth keeps a little swell running for beginner surfers.

A genuinely peaceful bay locals bring their families to, though there are no facilities at all and the sand narrows considerably at high tide.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Cross the stream near its mouth at low tide to reach the quieter eastern half of the bay, where the sand tends to be emptier than the western side by the parking.

Parking

A small unpaved lot sits at the end of Moloaa Road, with extra roadside shoulder parking when it fills.

Accessibility

A short, flat, sandy path connects the lot to the beach, an easy walk though soft in spots, not ideal for a standard stroller.

Weather & the best time to visit

Summer's smaller surf and calmer stream mouth make it the easiest season for swimming with kids. Winter brings more rain and a stronger stream flow that can cloud the water near the mouth.
