Moon Dunes Beach
Tahoe Vista, CA
Moon Dunes Beach in Tahoe Vista, off North Lake Boulevard, has some of the finest white sand on Lake Tahoe. It's an undeveloped beach with no permanent facilities, just portable restrooms and trash service in summer. The fine sand and gentle entry make it a North Shore favorite for lying out.
Beautiful, soft sand with a relaxed vibe, but parking along the highway is limited and there are no real facilities.
How we score beachesBring everything you need. There's no snack bar or rentals, which is also why it stays calmer than Kings Beach.
Limited parking only along the highway; arrive early on summer weekends.
A short walk from the highway shoulder to soft sand.
The fine sand gets hot by midday in July and August. Early fall is perfect for a quieter visit.
