Nahant Beach
Nahant, MA
Nahant Beach, also called Long Beach, is the DCR's long strip of sand connecting the Lynn shore to the Nahant peninsula. Lifeguards work the beach in summer, and a comfort station sits by the lot. Ball fields, tennis, and racquetball courts near the Nahant Rotary keep people busy off the sand.
A long, wide DCR beach with lifeguards is a North Shore staple, though summer crowds and non-resident fees are real.
How we score beachesCome on a weekday morning to beat the Lynn and Nahant crowds. Dogs are barred in season, but there is a designated dog beach nearby on Castle Road.
DCR parking runs $10 for Massachusetts residents and $40 for non-residents, with fees charged from morning through late afternoon in season.
A comfort station is on site and the lot is close to the beach, which is flat and wide.
Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the beach from April 1 to September 15, service animals excepted.
Summer lifeguards and warm sand make it the busiest time. Fall walks along the wide beach are peaceful.
