Nevada Beach
Stateline, NV
Nevada Beach, just north of Stateline on Lake Tahoe's southeast shore, is half a mile of soft sand on national forest land with a campground in the pines behind it. From the water's edge you look straight across the lake at the whole Desolation Wilderness skyline. There's a kayak rental stand and a food concession in summer.
Wide sand and the best sunset angle on the South Shore, but it's popular with campers and day visitors alike in July.
How we score beachesStay for sunset. The sun drops behind Mount Tallac and the Crystal Range right across the lake, and it's the best sunset view on the South Shore.
A Forest Service day-use fee lot sits at the end of Elks Point Road; it fills on summer weekends.
Short paths lead from the lot through the trees to wide, soft sand.
Warm afternoons from July through early September are the peak. The campground closes for winter, and the beach is mostly snow walkers after that.
