Nobska Beach
Falmouth, MA
Nobska Beach lies on Vineyard Sound in Woods Hole, a short distance from Nobska Light. The water is calm on sunny days, and the views across to Martha's Vineyard make the shore a photographer's favorite. Access is limited by the surrounding neighborhood, so treat it as a quiet local spot.
The Nobska Light setting and the view of the Vineyard are lovely, but parking is tight and access details are easy to get wrong.
How we score beachesWalk to Nobska Light afterward for the view, and check posted signs for who can park near the beach.
Parking is very limited in the neighborhood. Check Falmouth's current rules and posted signs.
Check on arrival for the path to the shore, which may involve uneven ground.
July through early September gives the mildest water. Tidal currents in Woods Hole are strong, so swim with care.
