North Salmon Creek Beach

North Salmon Creek Beach marks the southern end of Sonoma Coast State Park's named beaches, a long open stretch of sand backed by dunes and wetland where the creek reaches the ocean. It's a genuinely popular surf and walking beach, wide enough that it rarely feels crowded even on a busy day.
A genuinely wide, walkable beach with real surf, one of the better all-around stops in the park, though the wetland and dune terrain means it takes a bit more walking than some of the drive-up beaches nearby.
How we score beachesWalk south along the sand if you want more distance from the parking area, the beach stays open and walkable for a good stretch before development picks up near Bodega Bay.
Free parking is available at the lot.
Stairs, a path, and blufftop trails connect parking to the beach.
Dogs are not allowed at North Salmon Creek Beach under Sonoma Coast State Park rules.
Summer mornings run foggy before clearing, typical of the Sonoma coast, with water staying cold year round.
