Oyster Pond Beach
Chatham, MA
Oyster Pond Beach sits on a saltwater tidal pond a short distance from downtown Chatham. The water is known as the warmest and calmest in town, with a swimming raft offshore and lessons offered in season. Restrooms and picnic tables are on site, and parking is free but limited.
Warm, calm water and easy access make it a favorite, though the lot is small and it is a pond rather than the open sound.
How we score beachesArrive early since the free lot is small. Swimming lessons run in season, so it is a good spot for beginners.
Free, limited parking is available. Check current signs.
Restrooms and picnic tables are on site; check on arrival for the path to the sand.
Dogs are prohibited May 1 through September 15.
Pond water warms quickly in summer. Lifeguards are posted from mid-June through early September.
