Papaoneone Beach
Waianae, HI
South of Mākaha, past a scatter of beachfront homes, Papaoneone Beach stays quiet enough that most Waianae coast visitors drive right by without noticing the small sandy pocket down a short access path. Locals sometimes call it Turtle Beach too, a name that shows up all over Oahu but earns it here with regular sightings just offshore.
A genuinely quiet pocket beach with real turtle sightings, but there's no signage, no facilities, and finding the access path takes some looking.
How we score beachesThe unmarked access path is easy to miss. Look for a narrow gap between the homes rather than a signed entrance.
Limited street parking along Farrington Highway near the access path, no dedicated lot.
A short, sandy, unpaved path connects the road to the beach.
Calmest in summer, winter swells reach this exposed stretch much like they do at Mākaha just up the coast.
