Paradise Point State Recreation Site
Port Orford, OR
Paradise Point sits at the north end of Port Orford, a quieter alternative to Battle Rock with a long stretch of beach good for agate hunting between here and Cape Blanco. It sees a fraction of the foot traffic the town's main beach gets, mostly locals out for a walk rather than visitors stopping downtown.
A solid, quiet agate hunting beach, reliable but overshadowed by Battle Rock's landmark status a short drive south.
How we score beachesWork the tide line after a winter storm for agates. This stretch between Paradise Point and Cape Blanco is one of the better known agate beaches on the south coast.
Free lot directly off Highway 101.
A short path leads from the lot to the beach.
Fall and winter storms, roughly October through March, churn up the best agate hunting conditions.
