Planting Island Causeway Beach
Marion, MA
Planting Island Causeway Beach is a narrow, rocky stretch along the causeway in Marion, facing southwest so the light at the end of the day is the draw. It is a Marion residents only beach with a handful of small unpaved pull-offs along the road. There are no lifeguards and no amenities.
A beautiful spot for sunset and quiet, but the shore is rocky, parking is tiny and it is residents only.
How we score beachesGo around sunset if you are a resident. The southwest exposure makes it one of the better places in town to watch the light go.
Three small unpaved roadside areas along the causeway; a Marion resident sticker is required.
Rocky, uneven shoreline and roadside parking. Not ADA accessible.
Dogs are allowed October through April only.
Summer evenings are the best time here, when sun sets over the water and the bay breeze cools things off. Winter wind across the causeway is raw.
