Playa Escondida

Playa Escondida sits on Isla Colon in Bocas del Toro, Panama, a roughly 300 meter stretch of soft white sand and clear turquoise water reached by a 500 meter trail from the main road. The name means hidden beach, and despite basic facilities like restrooms and rental chairs, it still feels well off the main tourist circuit around Bocas Town.
A genuinely pretty, less crowded beach with real facilities on hand, but the tide dependent trail access means it takes a bit more checking ahead than most beaches around Bocas Town.
Check tide and surf conditions before you go. The access trail can flood or become impassable at certain tides, so a quick look at a local forecast saves a wasted trip.
There's parking near the trailhead off the main road, with the 500 meter walk in the only way to reach the beach itself.
The trail in is a short walk over mixed terrain, not fully paved, and access can be affected by tide, so it's not always straightforward for limited mobility.
The dry season from roughly mid-December through April brings calmer seas and easier trail access, while the wetter season the rest of the year brings heavier rain typical of Panama's Caribbean coast.
