Pleasure Point is one of the most famous surf breaks on the Central Coast, a string of numbered avenue stairways and overlooks along East Cliff Drive that all reach the same excellent right-hand point break. The Opal Cliffs Recreation District section requires a key from a nearby surf shop to unlock the gate, a genuinely unusual arrangement that speaks to how locally guarded this stretch is.
One of the genuinely best known surf breaks on this whole stretch of coast, though the gated key access at Opal Cliffs and limited parking keep it feeling like a locals' spot.
How we score beachesPick up the gate key at Freeline Design Surf Shop on 41st Avenue if the Opal Cliffs section is your target, it's the only way in there and most visitors don't know about it.
A day use fee applies at some sections; limited on-street parking is available elsewhere.

Dogs are welcome on a six foot leash from sunrise to sunset along the Pleasure Point beaches.
Fall and winter bring the most consistent swells here, while fog is common most mornings year round.
