Rockaway Beach
Rockaway Beach, OR
Rockaway Beach stretches roughly seven miles along the town of the same name, with Twin Rocks, a pair of sea stacks half a mile offshore, as its defining landmark. The Twin Rocks Turnaround gives the most reliable photo angle, a small paved viewpoint raised a few feet above the sand.
Twin Rocks makes this a genuine landmark beach, well loved locally, though the town draws a steady flow of day trippers in summer.
How we score beachesThe Twin Rocks Turnaround lot only holds about four cars, so if it's full, park at the main city center access a few blocks south and walk up.
Free lots at the city center beach access and the smaller Twin Rocks Turnaround; both fill on summer weekends.
The Twin Rocks Turnaround has a paved, accessible path to a raised viewing deck; other access points are direct sand from street ends.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
June through September is the driest stretch, and low tide any time of year opens up more sand around the Twin Rocks themselves.
