Sand Hills Beach
Scituate, MA
Sand Hills Beach is a small neighborhood sand beach on Oceanside Drive in Scituate, at the intersection with Jericho Road. The beach narrows at high tide, and the Sand Hills General Store is a short walk away for coffee and snacks. It is compact but well loved.
A friendly, walkable neighborhood beach with a general store next door, though it shrinks at high tide and the parking is tiny.
How we score beachesCome on a falling tide, when the sand widens. The general store nearby makes it an easy stop for breakfast or lunch.
A small lot of about two dozen spaces. A town beach sticker or day pass is required from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and Scituate enforces this strictly.
Short walk from the lot to the sand, with porta potties on site. The beach surface is regular soft sand.
Summer is the busiest season. Spring and fall bring quiet walks and cooler water.
