Satellite Beach runs a residential stretch of Brevard County coast between Indian Harbour Beach and Indialantic, with a growing number of small beach parks and crossovers rather than one central hub. A pilot program approved in late 2025 opened part of the beach to leashed dogs during set morning and evening hours, a first for a town that had long been off limits to pets.
The new dog friendly pilot program is a genuine plus for a county with few pet options, though the nonresident parking pass system and advance registration requirement make a spontaneous visit harder than it should be.

Small beach parks along the town have paved lots and short dune walkovers to the sand, generally flat and easy. The town's narrow barrier island footprint keeps the walk from parking to water brief everywhere.
A pilot program allows leashed dogs on part of the beach from 6 to 10am and 5 to 7pm; check current status since it's a trial program that could change.
Spring and fall bring the mildest weather for this quieter stretch of the Space Coast. Summer's warmer water and hurricane season, June through November, still draw steady local use given how easy access is from inland Brevard County.
