Locals Score🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥

A well kept beach with Red Line access and a real Dorchester feel, though the beach is modest in size and water quality after heavy rain is worth checking.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Take the Red Line to Savin Hill and walk down. Sunday afternoons in summer are busy with cookouts, so morning is best for space.

Parking

There is a DCR lot near the pavilion and some street parking along Morrissey Boulevard. Check current signage for hours.

Accessibility

Paved paths lead from the lot to the pavilion and bathhouse. The sand itself is regular soft sand.

Pets

Dogs are not allowed at the beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day; leashed dogs are welcome off season.

Weather & the best time to visit

Lifeguards work summer hours, and the cove tends to be calm. Fall evenings can be striking with the skyline glowing over the water.
