Seal Rock Recreation Area

Brinnon, WA

Uncrowded

Seal Rock Recreation Area is a 41-site US Forest Service campground directly on Hood Canal between Highway 101 and the water, a rocky beach with a shoreline interpretive trail lined with benches and historical plaques. Shellfish are present, butter clams, native littleneck, Manila, horse clams, and cockles, though the rocky substrate makes digging harder than at the sandier state parks nearby.

A real public shoreline with a genuinely nice interpretive trail, honest about the harder digging compared to sandier Hood Canal beaches.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Come with modest expectations for shellfishing given the rocky substrate; the interpretive trail and the oyster beds and shrimping at low tide are the bigger draw here.

Parking

A Forest Service day use or camping fee applies.
