Seal Rock State Recreation Site
Seal Rock, OR
Seal Rock's beach is defined by a line of dramatic offshore rock formations and sea stacks that make for some of the more distinctive tide pooling on the central coast at low water. The small community around it stays quiet, which keeps the beach itself well below the crowd levels of Newport or Lincoln City.
Genuinely good tide pooling and dramatic rock formations, well loved for that specifically, though there's little sand for a typical beach day beyond it.
How we score beachesBring water shoes for the tide pools. The rock formations here are sharper and more uneven than the sandy stretches farther north.
Free lot directly off Highway 101.
A short path leads from the lot to the beach; the tide pool areas themselves are uneven rock.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
Low tide during summer, June through September, gives the safest and most comfortable tide pooling conditions.
