SeaLodge Beach
Princeville, HI
SeaLodge Beach sits just west of Hideaways below the Sealodge condominiums, a narrow sandy cove reached by its own steep trail rather than sharing Hideaways' path. It's smaller and even less visited than its neighbor, with a rockier shoreline that rewards a look at low tide.
One of the quietest coves in Princeville, but the tide dependent sand and steep trail mean it only really works on the right day.
How we score beachesCheck the tide before committing to the hike down. At high tide there's barely a strip of sand left, and the walk isn't worth it if the whole cove is underwater.
A small public lot serves the Sealodge condos and the trailhead, reached from Ka Haku Road.
A steep, unpaved trail with roots and loose dirt drops through the cliffside forest to the beach, difficult for anyone without sure footing and not passable for strollers or wheelchairs.
Summer's smaller surf and higher likelihood of low tide sand make this the more reliable season to visit. Winter's bigger north swells can submerge the beach entirely at high tide.
