Seaside Beach
Seaside, OR
Seaside's beach runs about two miles behind the historic Promenade, or Prom, a paved oceanfront walkway built in the 1920s that still anchors the town's identity. It's the most developed beach on the north coast, with a Ferris wheel, arcade, and family tourist strip a block inland, so it draws a different crowd than the wilder beaches to the south.
A real local institution because of the Prom and the town built around it, but the beach itself gets crowded and touristy fast in summer.
How we score beachesCome at sunset and walk the Prom instead of the sand if the beach itself is packed. It runs the full length of the beach and clears out the crowd noise fast.
Metered street parking along Broadway and the Prom, plus several public lots; expect to pay and to circle on summer weekends.
The paved Promenade runs the length of the beach with ramps down to sand at regular intervals, genuinely stroller and wheelchair friendly for the walkway itself.
Summer, June through September, is when the town is busiest and driest. Storm watching draws a different crowd in winter, when the surf gets dramatic but swimming is out of the question.
