Secret Beach

Secret Beach sits about 6.5 miles north of San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye in Belize, a stretch of warm, shallow water that's grown from an actual hidden spot into one of the island's liveliest beach bar scenes. Golf carts loaded with coolers and towels head north from town most days, and the shallow water makes it easy to wade far out while still chest deep.
A fun, lively scene with genuinely calm, warm water, but its popularity means the actual secret is long gone, and crowds are the main complaint even from people who enjoy it.
Come on a weekday morning rather than a weekend afternoon if a quieter version of Secret Beach is what you're after, since it can still fill up even midweek by early afternoon.
Most visitors reach Secret Beach by golf cart from San Pedro Town, about a 20 to 30 minute ride north along the island's main road.
The beach and shallow water are flat and easy to access from the various beach bars, well suited to most visitors, including families with kids.
The dry season from late November through May brings the most reliable sunny weather, while the wetter season from June through November carries hurricane season risk typical of Belize's Caribbean coast.

Chacala sits in a small cove on Mexico's Riviera Nayarit, about 90 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, a nearly mile long beach of soft, pale sand lined with palm trees and palapa restaurants. The town holds around 300 full time residents, though visitor numbers climb sharply during Semana Santa and Christmas, and jungle covered hills rise up on either side of the bay.
