Short Beach
Oceanside, OR
Short Beach is an easy to miss pull off along the Three Capes Scenic Loop just south of Radar Road, where a makeshift set of stairs drops down to a small cobble and sand beach below the bluff. It's the kind of spot that stays quiet simply because there's no sign announcing it.
Quiet mostly because it's unmarked, but the cobble beach and steep informal stairs make it a stop for a quick look rather than a full day.
How we score beachesThe stairs down are informal and can be slick after rain, so this one rewards sturdy shoes over sandals.
A small roadside pullout along the Three Capes Scenic Loop, no formal lot.
A steep, informal stairway leads down the bluff to the beach. Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
Summer, June through September, offers the driest stairs and easiest footing down to the beach.
