Siltcoos Beach
Florence, OR
Siltcoos Beach sits at the mouth of the Siltcoos River in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, reached via the Waxmyrtle Trail through one of the larger dune fields on this part of the coast. The river mouth and adjacent beach are also a nesting area for the threatened western snowy plover, so parts close seasonally.
Genuinely scenic dune and river mouth scenery, but the seasonal plover closures mean part of the beach is off limits for much of the year.
How we score beachesCheck current Forest Service closure signage before March. Snowy plover nesting season typically runs March through September and restricts access to posted sections of dry sand.
A day use fee applies at the Siltcoos day use area and Waxmyrtle Campground trailhead.
A flat trail through dunes and forest connects the parking area to the beach, roughly a half mile each way.
Snowy plover nesting closures typically run March through September; summer is the driest hiking window outside the restricted zones.
