Silvershell Beach
Marion, MA
At the end of Front Street, Silvershell Beach opens onto Sippican Harbor, with a grassy park, a playground and a basketball court beside the sand. Lifeguards are on duty from mid to late June through August, and kids treat the whole area as a summer clubhouse. It is for Marion and Rochester residents only.
A real town beach with a park, playground and lifeguards, but non-residents cannot use it at all.
How we score beachesStickers are $10 for Marion residents and $20 for Rochester residents, so sort that out at town hall before the first hot weekend rather than at the lot.
A large unpaved lot, sticker required (Marion and Rochester residents only).
The lot and park are flat, but the beach is not ADA accessible and the sand is soft.
Dogs are allowed from October 1 to March 31 only.
Sippican Harbor is sheltered, so water warms nicely by July and lifeguard hours make mid summer the best window. Off season, the beach is a quiet dog walking stretch with the harbor to yourself.
