Speedboat Beach
Kings Beach, CA
Speedboat Beach is a small neighborhood beach on Lake Tahoe's North Shore in Kings Beach, near the Nevada state line. Big granite boulders sit in the shallows and along the shore, and the water between them is clear and inviting. It's where a lot of North Shore locals go when they want a swim without the Kings Beach crowds.
Clear water and sunning boulders make it a true local favorite, but parking is tight and the beach is small.
How we score beachesThe boulders are perfect for jumping and sunning, but check the depth first. Some of them sit over surprisingly shallow water.
Limited street parking in the neighborhood around Speedboat Avenue and Harbor Avenue; follow posted signs and don't block driveways.
A short walk from the street end, with rocky footing near the water.
Warmest from mid July to late August. By September the crowds thin out and the boulders hold the afternoon heat.
