Steps Beach
Nantucket, MA
Steps Beach sits between Jetties and Dionis on Nantucket's north shore, reached by a wooden stairway down a low bluff, which is where the name comes from. Views stretch across Nantucket Sound toward Great Point. It feels more secluded than Jetties, and there are no lifeguards or facilities to draw a crowd.
Secluded and scenic, though there is no lifeguard, no facilities, and very little parking.
How we score beachesBring what you need for the day, since there are no facilities. It is a lovely late afternoon spot when the light turns golden over the water.
Parking is very limited, and many visitors walk or bike in.
A stairway leads to the beach, so it is not suited to strollers or wheelchairs. There are no lifeguards or facilities.
Sound side water is calm and warm by August, and the beach is quiet on shoulder season days.
