Stuart Island Marine State Park

Stuart Island, WA

UncrowdedScenic

Stuart Island is the outermost, northwesternmost island in the county, a longer boat crossing than Sucia, Jones, or Turn, but it rewards the trip with a genuine sandy beach at the head of Reid Harbor and a historic lighthouse hike at Turn Point. Prevost Harbor on the other side of the island offers a second, quieter landing.

Locals Score🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥

Real and well documented with a genuinely sandy, describable beach, though it's the most committing boat trip of the marine parks in the islands.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Reid Harbor's beach at the harbor's head is the real sand destination here; Prevost Harbor is smaller and more about the dock and campsites than the beach itself.

Parking

No road access; both harbors have buoys and a dock for boats arriving by water.

Weather & the best time to visit

Summer boating season is the realistic window. It's the longest crossing of the county's marine parks.
