Sucia Island Marine State Park
Sucia Island, WA
Sucia Island is boat access only, no bridge, no ferry, reached by private or rental boat, kayak, or water taxi. What you find once there is worth the trip: honeycombed sandstone formations, sea caves, and several distinct named coves, each with its own buoys and dock, making this one of the most genuinely describable marine parks in the county.
A genuinely famous island with real, fixed, describable access points, honestly a boat-in only destination rather than a walk-up beach.
How we score beachesFossil Bay is the most popular anchorage and the easiest to find your bearings, but Shallow Bay's west facing sunsets are worth the extra motoring if the swell allows it.
No road access; moorage buoys and docks serve boats arriving by water. Some docks are removed October through April for storm protection.
Summer boating season is when facilities are fully in place; visit only if arriving by boat is already part of the plan.
This isn't one entrance, it's a stretch with a few. Here's where locals actually meet up.
