Sutton Beach
Florence, OR
Sutton Beach sits where Sutton Creek crosses the sand between Heceta Beach and Baker Beach, part of the same long, undeveloped stretch of Siuslaw National Forest coastline. The Sutton Creek Recreation Area just inland has camping and freshwater lakes, making this beach a common add on for people already staying nearby.
A solid, quiet beach that pairs well with the campground inland, though it doesn't have a standout feature to set it apart from the beach on either side.
How we score beachesCombine a visit here with the Sutton Creek campground's short lake trails if you want fresh water swimming as an alternative to the colder ocean.
Free lot at the Sutton Beach access off Sutton Beach Lane.
A flat, sandy path leads from the lot to the beach, crossing Sutton Creek at low water.
Summer, June through September, brings the driest and calmest conditions for crossing the creek to the beach.
