Swifts Neck Beach
Wareham, MA
Swifts Neck Beach is 2.1 acres off Roby Street in Wareham where the Wareham River meets Buzzards Bay, and the mix of river and bay water makes the low tide pools interesting for kids with a bucket. A concrete boat ramp shares the site, so you will see small boats launching while you sit in the sun.
Tide pools and a river mouth setting make it interesting, but there are no lifeguards and boat traffic shares the space.
How we score beachesLow tide is the time to go if you have children who like poking at tide pools. Check the tide chart before you set out.
Two paved lots with fees from May 1 to October 1: $10 a day for non-residents, $30 a week, or $50 for the year.
Paved lots and a boat ramp are close, but the beach itself is not ADA accessible.
No dogs are allowed.
Summer afternoons bring the warmest water as the tide floods over sun heated flats. In September the crowds thin and the bay is still swimmable.
