Taft Beach
Lincoln City, OR
Taft is the old town at the south end of Lincoln City, where the beach access near 51st Street sits close to Siletz Bay rather than open ocean. The bay side draws a different crowd than the surf beaches farther north, more crabbing and calm water paddling than swimming or surfing.
The bay and seal watching give it a different character than the rest of Lincoln City's beach, though it's a smaller, quieter draw than the ocean side accesses.
How we score beachesWalk south toward the Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge overlook for a good chance at spotting harbor seals hauled out on the sandbars.
Free street parking near the 51st Street access.
Flat sand and bay shoreline access from the street end.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
Summer, June through September, brings the calmest bay water; harbor seals are visible on the sandbars year round but easiest to spot at low tide.
