Twin Harbors State Park
Westport, WA
Twin Harbors State Park sits between Westport and Grayland, its beach reached by the Shifting Sands Trail from the campground rather than by driving straight onto the sand. The old vehicle road out to the beach closed to cars due to deteriorating conditions, so it's walk-in only now, miles of open sand, driftwood, and sand dollars.
A solid camping-adjacent beach with real sand dollar hunting, but locals have noted the loss of drive-on access as a genuine downgrade in convenience compared to before.
How we score beachesIf you remember driving onto this beach years ago, that access is gone. Budget a short walk from the campground instead, and don't expect the drive-on access some nearby beaches still allow.
A Discover Pass is required for day use and camping.
The Shifting Sands Trail from the campground to the beach is unpaved, an easy walk but not wheelchair friendly.
Dogs are allowed on leash throughout the park.
Kite flying and fishing are steady through summer. Winter brings quieter camping and rougher surf.
