Veterans Beach
Hyannis, MA
Veterans Beach sits on Ocean Street in Hyannis, backed by a small park with shade trees and a big lawn where picnic tables and grills wait. Two monuments stand behind the sand, one for President Kennedy and one for Korean War veterans. Nantucket Sound lies flat and easy in front of you, and there's a snack bar, showers, and restrooms close by.
The park, lawn, and facilities make it an easy family day, and the setting is pleasant. Paid parking and busy summer weekends keep it from standing out against nearby Hyannis beaches.
How we score beachesCome late afternoon, once the lifeguard day winds down and the lawn empties. The light over the Sound is worth the wait, and you can walk from here toward Kalmus when the sand feels crowded.
The main lot along the beach has roughly a hundred spaces, with an unpaved overflow lot on the south side. Parking is charged by the day in season, so check the town's current rates and gate hours.
The lot sits right beside the park and sand, and the town lists a beach wheelchair for visitors. Expect a short stretch of soft sand to reach the water.
Sound water warms up by midsummer and stays comfortable into early September. Spring and fall bring wind off the water, so bring a layer.
