Walton Rocks Beach
Jensen Beach, FL

Walton Rocks Beach is St. Lucie County's designated off-leash dog beach, a 24-acre stretch on South Hutchinson Island just south of the FPL St. Lucie Nuclear Plant. Free parking and hose stations for rinsing off pets make it a real destination for anyone traveling with a dog on the Treasure Coast.
A genuine off-leash dog beach with hose stations and free parking is hard to find on this coast, making it a real destination for pet owners rather than just a fallback option.
How we score beachesBring a leash even though dogs run free here, county rules require one on hand and cap it at 8 feet if used, along with a 3-dogs-per-person limit. The hose stations at the lot make the drive home a lot less sandy.
Parking is free at the beach lot.
The beach is a short, flat walk from the free lot.
Dogs are welcome off-leash, up to 3 per person, with a leash required to be on hand at all times.
Winter and spring bring South Florida's driest, mildest weather and the biggest snowbird crowds. Summer's heat and hurricane season, June through November, thin things out despite the warmest water of the year.
