Wellington Beach & Park
Crisfield, MD
Wellington Beach is a small public beach and dock on the edge of Crisfield, Somerset County's crab-packing town at the bottom of the Eastern Shore. Fishing and crabbing off the dock are as much the draw here as swimming, which fits a town that still calls itself the Crab Capital of the World.
A genuine working-town beach where crabbing off the dock is as normal as swimming, small and unpolished rather than a destination stretch of sand.
How we score beachesBring a hand line or a crab trap along with your towel. Crabbing right off the dock is a normal part of a Wellington Beach visit.
A small lot on Lorrie Quinn Sr. Drive, free to use.
A short, flat walk from the lot to the beach and dock.
Water warms into the mid 70s by August. Crabbing picks up through the summer and into early fall as the water cools slightly.
