Wessagusset Beach
Weymouth, MA
Wessagusset Beach is a small public beach on the Fore River in North Weymouth, facing west toward the Boston skyline. Locals call it the old beach, and it sits on the site of an early colonial settlement. A walkway now links it to nearby George Lane Beach along the shore.
The skyline view and easy walkway give it real charm, but the beach is small and the Fore River is not a place for a big swim.
How we score beachesAt low tide you can walk between Wessagusset and George Lane Beach along the shore. Come for the sunset, when the skyline turns gold over the water.
Parking is on the street near the beach. Check signage for any restrictions.
A short walk from the street to the sand. A concrete walkway now runs along the shoreline toward George Lane Beach.
Summer evenings are the best time here. The river side is calmer than the open harbor.
