White Plains Beach
Kapolei, HI
White Plains Beach, once known as Officers Beach when the area was still an active military base, has since opened up into one of the better family swimming spots in Kapolei, with multiple reef breaks offering something for both beginners and more experienced bodyboarders. It's less crowded than the beaches closer to Waikiki despite offering similarly calm water.
A genuinely good, uncrowded family beach with options for different skill levels, though it's a bit of a drive from town and has a plain, low key setting.
How we score beachesThe reef breaks here vary in difficulty from one section to the next. Walk down the beach a bit if the first spot you find looks too rough.
A large free lot serves the beach within the Kalaeloa area.
Flat, paved paths run from the lot to open sand, easy for families.
Calm and swimmable most of the year, with summer bringing the gentlest conditions overall.
