The calm water here makes it feel more like a lagoon than open ocean, a contrast to the wind and current found elsewhere in Islamorada.

How we score beachesBring a leash for your dog even though the vibe here is relaxed, it's required and there are usually poop bags and a water bowl set out for pets. The boardwalk itself is worth the walk even without stopping at the beach, a nice way to see the mangroves up close.
