Barracuda Cove Beach

South Padre Island, TX

Uncrowded

Barracuda Cove tucks just inside the north jetty of Brazos Santiago Pass, directly across the channel from Boca Chica Beach but sheltered enough that the water stays calm where Boca Chica's stays open and rough. Locals use it for shell hunting and surf fishing more than swimming, and reaching it takes a real four wheel drive vehicle over rugged sand.

Locals Score🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥

The sheltered, calm water inside the jetty is a genuine change of pace from the open Gulf just across the channel, though it's a fishing spot at heart and the 4x4 access limits who can actually get there.

Parking

No formal lot. Four wheel drive vehicles park directly on the sand after the drive in.

Accessibility

No paved path or facilities. Reaching the cove requires a properly equipped four wheel drive over rugged terrain.

Weather & the best time to visit
