The pier, pavilions, and free parking make it a solid, reliable local beach, though it's a plainer stretch of sand than the more scenic dunes on St. George Island nearby.
How we score beachesBring a leash if traveling with a dog, they're welcome here as long as they stay off the dunes and out of sensitive areas. The pavilions and grills make it an easy spot for a full day rather than just a quick stop.
Parking is free with a good amount of space, rarely filling even on busy weekends.
Paved paths and a short walk lead from the lot to the sand, with pavilions and grills nearby. The fishing pier is a flat, easy walk out over the water.
Leashed dogs are welcome, but pets aren't allowed on the dunes.
Spring and fall bring the mildest weather for this quiet stretch of the Forgotten Coast. Summer's heat and hurricane season, June through November, are the main things to plan around.
