Chut Chit Beach

Chut Chit Beach sits on the quieter west side of Cat Ba Island in northern Vietnam, about 8 kilometers from Cat Ba Town, with calm, clear water and almost no crowd even in high season. A half-built, abandoned resort sits beside the sand, giving the place an odd, empty feel that keeps most day-trippers moving on to the busier beaches instead.
Genuinely uncrowded and calm, which is rare on an island as popular as Cat Ba, but the abandoned resort and complete lack of facilities mean most visitors still prefer the developed beaches closer to town.
Bring your own water and snacks. There are no vendors or facilities here, and the nearest shop is back toward town.
A motorbike or taxi from Cat Ba Town covers the roughly 8 kilometer trip in 15 to 20 minutes. There's informal space to leave a bike near the beach entrance.
Access is a flat dirt track down to the sand from the road, no stairs or formal path, easy enough on foot but not paved.
May through October brings the warmest water and the best swimming conditions, while the cooler, sometimes foggy months from November through February keep both the water and the crowds down.

Sunset Beach is the quieter western shore of Koh Kradan in Trang province, Thailand, a short walk across the island from the long main beach that gets most of the attention. There's less wave action here than on the east side, the swimming stays calmer, and as the name promises it's the spot locals and the handful of resort guests head to for the evening light.
